Dr. Lydia G. Tansinsin, Ph.D.

​

Dr. Lydia G. Tansinsin is a respected Filipino chemical engineer, science administrator, educator, and engineering leader whose career reflects decades of service to Philippine science, technology, and engineering. A graduate of chemical engineering, she became one of the country’s pioneering women leaders in engineering and has been recognized nationally and internationally for her contributions to the profession. She served as former Assistant Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, where she helped strengthen science and technology programs, institutional development, and public support for research and innovation. She also contributed to the history of Philippine S&T through her book An Institutional Journey: From the NSDB to the DOST, 1958–1998. She is widely recognized in the engineering community, having been conferred as the first Filipino ASEAN Honorary Engineer by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations in 2004. She also received the FEIAP Engineer of the Year Award and the WFEO GREE Women in Engineering Award, which recognized her leadership as a woman engineer in the Philippines and Asia-Pacific region.


As Adviser of Sci&Tech Philippines, Dr. Tansinsin brings wisdom, institutional memory, and a lifelong commitment to advancing engineering, science education, and innovation for national development.
